Scuba Depth Gauge

Scuba depth gauge is a pressure gauge that displays the equivalent depth in water. Scuba depth gauge is a piece of diving equipments often used by scuba divers. In this case, most modern diving depth gauges have an electronic mechanism and digital display, while older types used a mechanical mechanism and analogue display.

To avoid decompression sickness, a diver usually uses a scuba depth gauge with decompression tables and a watch. A depth gauge and an oxygen analyzer/oxygen sensor can be used to measure the partial pressure of oxygen of the breathing gas, which is necessary to avoid oxygen toxicity. If you choose scuba depth gauge in digital, the depth gauge commonly also shows the interval of time that the diver has been submerged and shows the diver’s rate of ascent and descent, which can be useful for avoiding barotraumas.

Scuba depth gauge should be wrist-mounted rather than on a console.  Consoles are unwieldy, clunky, and are an entanglement hazard.  There is no convenient place to stow a console while diving, and they take up more space than wrist mounted instruments.  Consoles cannot easily be moved from one rig to another since they are usually attached by the high-pressure hose.

The scuba depth gauge should be worn on the right wrist, so that you can reach back to your wings’ dump valve with your left hand while watching your depth gauge on your right wrist.  One of scuba depth gauges you can choose in the market is Swatch Scuba 200m depth gauge dive watch.

This scuba depth gauge is the “Moray’s Bite” variation of the Swatch Scuba. This is super long dive strap, big and tall case (but very light) and a remarkably accurate depth gauge. The depth gauge starts automatically as the watch detects water pressure greater than a meter of depth.

The analog hands of this scuba depth gauge go into dive mode, tracking time on the outer fixed bezel and depth on the inner ring. The 5m mark is highlighted since it is the recommended safety stop depth. What is really cool is this watch saves your last dive profile, so you can play it back for your logbook.

Another option is Mares Mission 2 Scuba Diving Console – Scuba Tank Pressure and Depth Gauge. The material used in this scuba depth gauge is highly shock resistant to protect its accuracy, and affords a secure grip in every situation with any type of glove.

It also has a florescent dial for easy reading in day or night diving situations. In addition, it is equipped with maximum depth indicator which will mark your deepest depth reached on a dive and it is color coded for easy and safe reading at a glance.

Or you can choose Oceanic Depth Wrist Gauge as your right scuba depth gauge. This gauge is still one of the most dependable instruments around for divers who are just starting out or do not feel they need the advanced features of a Personal Dive Computer just yet. Its design allows you to easily swap out the depth gauge module with a PDC as your needs change and your experience grows.

Moreover, this scuba depth gauge is completed with non-linear depth scale that is easier to read in shallow depths, and makes it much easier to maintain safety stop depths. And OceanGlo® luminescent gauge face absorbs light and glows approximately 7 times faster and longer than conventional glow-in-the-dark materials.
